Capture cards and live feeds
WATCHOUT is great at handling pre-produced content and just as talented when it comes to incorporating capture and live feeds in a show – whether it's from a camera, media player, or computer.
Some live feeds require additional hardware, such as capture cards, to bring the signal into WATCHOUT. In other cases, the external feed can be brought into the system through the network.
As of version 6.2, WATCHOUT supports NDI™, Network Device Interface, a free protocol developed by Newtek. NDI allows video systems to communicate with one another over IP, enabling multiple streams of high-quality, low latency, frame-accurate video on the network.
Note that the WATCHPAX media servers support USB capture cards. We have tested and verified the following to work:
- Magewell USB capture family: http://www.magewell.com/usb-capture-family
- USB Capture HDMI: http://www.magewell.com/usb-capture-hdmi
- USB Capture SDI: http://www.magewell.com/usb-capture-sdi
- Epiphan AV.io family:
