Muncaster Castle goes blue for key workers
Muncaster Castle, in Cumbria, is famous for its eerie facade projections for Halloween, created with WATCHOUT. This spring, the projection rig will be used to convey a different message as they light up with a series of designs to thank the NHS, National Health Service, and key workers.
"We will be going blue every Thursday from April 30. Probably with embellishments!" says Peter Frost-Pennington, Director at Muncaster. "I am very lucky to live at Muncaster Castle and it is a beautiful place to be in lockdown. However we are so frustrated that we cannot share it with visitors at the moment. Our hearts go out to all those NHS staff, Care Home Carers and other key workers in the thick of this horrible crisis at the moment. Although no one can hear us clapping every Thursday evening for the NHS, we collectively wanted to do something to show all these fantastic people working so hard how much we appreciate their heroism.
"We'll be using the amazing Dataton projection software we use every Halloween (to project ghosts and similar fun images across the Castle) to highlight and support key workers. Particular thanks to Steve Selwyn at Mirage Assoicates for his remote support during setup!"
Muncaster Castle is one of many historical sites that are showing their support for key workers with projection, lighting and other events. More info on the Historic Houses website.
