Mapping challenge Copacabana-style
The Mapping Challenge brings projection art to some of the most iconic buildings in Latin America. Presented by Epson Latin America with the support of Dataton WATCHOUT, this international contest generated 100 plus entries with the winning contributions displayed in Mexico, Chile, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Peru.
The team at Estúdio Preto e Branco created the winning contribution in Brazil. The chosen projection venue was the Belmond Copacabana Palace, in one of Rio de Janeiro's must-see locales. Evolving the theme: "Stories from Rio de Janeiro – A Marvellous City", the team portrayed the historic glamor of the Copacabana, colourful favelas, and paid homage to the city's natural beauty, people, cultural and social diversity.
"Dancing Copacabana takes advantage of the mapping style to transform the building of Copacabana Palace into a main character, a leading musician, dancer and stage in this immersion in the universe of Rio," explains Murilo Celebrone, Estúdio Preto e Branco.
Special shout-out to the talented teams onsite who made it all possible: entire Epson Latin America team; KJPL for WATCHOUT skills and Infoview for staging.
