Dataton WATCHOUT ups the ante with advanced audio and video-over-IP features
InfoComm 2017: The upcoming release of WATCHOUT, Dataton’s award-winning multi-display production and playback system, introduces strong new features for live IP production workflow and superior sound management.
With support for NDI and ASIO protocols, WATCHOUT offers a host of benefits in terms of flexibility, media quality, deployment time and, not least, costs.
For video-over-IP, the WATCHOUT release utilises Newtek’s NDI open protocol which enables multiple high-quality, low latency, frame-accurate network video streams. WATCHOUT also strengthens its offering with support for ASIO, a multi-channel audio transfer protocol. Using ASIO, WATCHOUT gains control over the sound device, enabling low-latency access of up to 24 audio channels. That’s great news for producers working with complex sound scenarios as part of their WATCHOUT multi-screen show.
“WATCHOUT producers place high demands on media quality and synchronization,” says Miroslav Andel, Chief Software Developer, Dataton AB. “These new features empower users, giving them greater flexibility and bypassing the technical and physical limitations of standard broadcast infrastructure. That paves the way for new working methods and creativity.”
