New WATCHOUT release empowers with video-over-IP

Free upgrade brings support for video-over-IP and improved multi-channel audio onboard

Linköping, Sweden: Dataton has released a new version of WATCHOUT, the company's flagship multi-display software. Version 6.2 introduces major audio and video-over-IP features as well as over 100 fixes and tweaks, all with the focus on rock-solid performance. What's more, this upgrade of the multiple award-winning software can be downloaded for free from Dataton – much to the delight of users worldwide.

The latest version of Dataton WATCHOUT supports video capture over NewTek NDI (Network Device Interface), and adds vastly improved sound support using ASIO or WASAPI audio interfaces. These key features have been eagerly awaited by professional users as they offer a range of benefits in terms of flexibility, media quality, deployment time and, not least, costs. By utilising NewTek's NDI protocol, live high-quality professional video streams can be distributed across the network and included in a WATCHOUT show like any other media source. This effectively reduces hardware costs as well as onsite headaches for show operators. 

The fully reworked audio renderer in WATCHOUT supports Steinberg's multi-channel audio transfer protocol, ASIO, and Microsoft's equivalent WASAPI. Using ASIO, WATCHOUT gains control over the sound device, enabling low latency, synchronized audio playback of up to 24 channels per server with individual volume control and routing. Producers can thus more easily incorporate complex sound scenarios in their WATCHOUT multi-screen shows, making an even greater impact on audiences.

Along with numerous improvements in performance and user interaction, Dataton WATCHOUT now supports the import of auto-alignment display data from ProjectionTools by sphere specialists Domeprojection. This paves the way for smoother workflow when working with multiple projectors on complex projection surfaces. 

Prior to the latest WATCHOUT release, Dataton embarked on a broader beta testing program than ever. "WATCHOUT is used in many different ways, from relatively straightforward conference applications to huge installs with stringent demands on dynamic content.
